Welcome to Sanctum
Criticism stays. Abuse gets hidden.
Sanctum hides high-confidence harmful comments on your Instagram before they reach you. Hidden, not deleted — you can audit and restore anything, any time. While Sanctum is in private testing, three small steps to get set up.
1. Accept the tester invite on Instagram
You should have an invite from @w_poszukiwaniu_troli to test Sanctum. To accept it, open Instagram (app or web), then:
- Settings and activity (the menu icon in your profile).
- Apps and websites.
- Tester invites (sometimes split into Active and Expired tabs).
- Tap the Sanctum invite and Accept.
If you don't see an invite, ping @w_poszukiwaniu_troli on Instagram — the invite may have expired or gone to the wrong account. Invites last about 30 days.
2. Make sure your account is Business or Creator
Sanctum can only protect Instagram Business or Creator accounts — not Personal ones. If you're not sure which you have, that's the default for Personal, and switching is free and reversible:
- Instagram Settings and activity.
- Account type and tools → Switch to professional account.
- Pick Creator or Business — either works for Sanctum.
You can switch back to Personal any time. The change doesn't affect your followers, your posts, or anything else in your account.
3. Connect Instagram to Sanctum
Come back here and click the button below. You'll be sent to Instagram to log in and approve two permissions:
- Read your media and account info — so Sanctum knows what to watch.
- Manage comments — so Sanctum can hide harmful ones.
That's it — no DM access, no posting, no profile changes. After you approve, you'll land on the Sanctum dashboard and protection starts immediately.
What happens after you connect
Sanctum runs quietly in the background. Every new comment on your posts is checked; the ones that clearly cross a line (slurs, threats, personal attacks, depending on the protection level you pick) get hidden on Instagram before you see them. Criticism, disagreement, and questions stay visible — that's the whole point.
You can:
- Review what Sanctum hid — the dashboard has a "Review hidden comments" link.
- Restore any individual comment if you disagree with the decision.
- Pick a less or more aggressive protection level in Settings.
- Add an email address to get a calm weekly digest.
- Disconnect or delete your account any time — nothing locks you in.
Important: turn off Instagram comment notifications
Sanctum hides harmful comments, but it has no control over Instagram's push notifications. By the time Sanctum reacts, Instagram has already pushed the comment text to your phone. For Sanctum's protection to actually matter, turn comment notifications off:
- Instagram → profile → Settings and activity → Notifications.
- Posts, stories and comments → Comments → set to Off (or From people I follow if you want notifications only from trusted accounts).
- Same under Email notifications → uncheck Comments.
After this you only see comments when you choose to open a post — and by then Sanctum has already hidden the worst ones.
Tip: Instagram also has its own Hidden Words filter (Settings → Privacy → Hidden Words) that catches comments containing specific words before they reach notifications. Word-list based (not contextual like Sanctum), but works alongside.
Stuck?
"OAuth exception" / something about activity outside Meta
If you see a message about activity outside Meta technologies when trying to connect — that's not a Sanctum issue, it's a privacy setting on your Meta account that blocks all third-party apps. It's commonly off by default in the EU/EEA. Turn it on:
- Instagram → Settings and activity → at the top, Accounts Center.
- Your information and permissions → Activity off Meta technologies.
- Turn the toggle on (globally, or specifically for Sanctum).
You can also do this directly in a browser at accountscenter.meta.com.
I don't see the tester invite
Invites are valid for about 30 days. If yours expired or never arrived, ping @w_poszukiwaniu_troli on Instagram — they'll send a fresh one.
I have a Personal account, not Business / Creator
Sanctum only works with professional accounts (Business or Creator). Go back to step 2 above — switching is free and reversible.
Something else stuck or unclear? Ping @w_poszukiwaniu_troli on Instagram. While Sanctum is in private testing, every bit of feedback shapes what the product becomes.
